About Mino G. Nicolas
Minos G. Nicolas serves as the Executive Director of the DHI. He has performed, staged, and directed Humphrey’s works for over three decades and continues to serve as artistic consultant for all of the extant repertory to various companies and institutions worldwide. As master teacher of the Humphrey aesthetic and repertory, he is a direct exponent of the first generation of Humphrey-Weidman-Limón dancers, many of whom served as his mentors and artistic advisers. He is also the founder and former artistic director of the internationally acclaimed Doris Humphrey Repertory Dance Company. He produced the highly praised 1995 International Doris Humphrey Centennial Celebration in New York City, an unprecedented five night retrospective of more than thirty Humphrey works. As the sole largest presenter of the Humphrey catalog, he continues to maintain rights to all of the works and has the authority to mount the repertory for interested parties. Along with Humphrey’s heir, he also serves as artistic advisor to the Doris Humphrey Foundation for Dance housed at Goucher College.
