Many of you have noticed and raised questions about the maintenance crews working across from the gatehouse at Goucher's entrance. Baltimore County has required the college to install a small water-treatment facility that will monitor and maintain levels of discharged fats, oils, greases, and wastewater, ensuring that the college is 100 percent compliant with county code. Goucher had been meeting the requirements with 99 percent compliance. The treatment equipment will be placed in large underground holding tanks, and a small structure will be built to house additional monitoring equipment. This facility will be relatively unobtrusive and will be constructed with materials that are consistent with other campus facilities. Construction of the treatment plant is expected to take three to four months. Delivery of equipment and supplies will continue to be made, but traffic may be redirected if necessary. The contractor and the college will make every effort to minimize the disruption to the campus.
