Community Assistant Compensation

The salary for Community Assistants is based on the standard room rate.  CAs are assigned to a single room, but are billed at the standard room rate. Community Assistants receive a stipend that is equal to the standard room rate. CAs can choose to receive their stipend in bi-weekly paychecks or apply all or part of their stipend to their room costs.

Community Assistants may petition their supervisor for approval to work up to 10 hours a week in a position outside of the Community Assistant role. Additional employment requests, including the hours, location, and nature of employment must be submitted to the Community Assistant's immediate supervisor for review. Supervisors must grant the Community Assistant permission to work in addition to their Community Assistant responsibilities before the Community Assistant makes a commitment to another employment opportunity. Employment expectations of the Community Assistant, including staff meetings, training, hall opening, hall closing, selection, housing functions and other Community Assistant events, take priority over outside employment. If a Community Assistant's academic or work performance fails to meet expectations, permission to work in addition to the Community Assistant position may be withdrawn.
