The Clinton Ivan Winslow Papers consist of a wide variety of articles, essays, correspondence, reports, letters, testimony, and telegrams documenting Winslow’s career and civic activities. The collection includes biographical as well as lecture notes, manuscripts, and newspaper clippings on his role as a delegate representing Baltimore County's 3rd District at Maryland’s 5th Constitutional Convention.
Collection strengths include political commentaries from the 1920s to the 1970s and records of the Citizens League of Baltimore and the 1967 Maryland Constitutional Convention.
The series contains correspondence from many facets in the community (businesses, unions, leaders, citizens, public boards) stating support or opposition for various constitutional proposals such as a separation of church and state provision and an organized labor provision in the “Declaration of Rights.”
Other documents of interest include significant records documenting Winslow’s role as the head of Goucher’s Planning Committee that was responsible for the development of the college’s new campus in Baltimore County.
This collection is arranged into six series: I) Biographical and personal materials; II) Professional papers; III) Clippings; IV) Citizen’s League of Baltimore; V) The Maryland Convention; and VI) Reference and political materials.
