Dr. Irline François is Associate Professor of Women’s Studies at Goucher College, Maryland.  She teaches a range of International/Transnational Women’s Studies Courses such as Women in North Africa/The Middle East and South American Women’s Voices of Resistance at Goucher’s ICA Team-Taught interdisciplinary examination of contemporary women activists in Argentina and Uruguay. She has published articles in a range of Caribbean and International Women’s Journals. Her work focuses on Transnational Feminist Theory and Women’s Activism, Latin American and Caribbean Women’s Literatures, Postcolonial Film Theory and Translation Studies. She is a native speaker of French and Haitian Creole, a near-native speaker of English; she is also fluent in Spanish and conversant in Portuguese. Her most recent publication is a translation from the French, Memoir of an Amnesiac by the Haitian-Canadian author, Jan J Dominique (Caribbean Studies Press, 2008). She is currently working on a book prospectus on The Politics of Gendered Bodies and Transnational Migration.
