CONSENT MUST BE EXPRESSED IN EXPLICIT WORDS. The current policy allows consent to be expressed by words or actions. We recommend that consent require expression by explicit words, and that non-communication, silence, or incapacitation constitute lack of consent.

CONSENSUAL RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN FACULTY OR STAFF AND STUDENTS ARE PROHIBITED. The current policy prohibits consensual sexual relationships between members of the college community when one of the individuals involved has professional influence or authority over the other. We recommend a flat prohibition against consensual sexual relationships of faculty or staff with students.

We met with College Council and the senior staff to discuss these proposals, and also gave you the opportunity to send us feedback, either by email or anonymously. A number of you responded, some in support and some opposing the changes. After considering all the comments we received, both in support of and opposing the changes, we shared the feedback with President Ungar and recommended that the changes be approved and implemented. He agreed.

Eighth Annual Goucher College Philosophy Conference

VERITAS: the Philosophy Club of Goucher College, in collaboration with the Goucher Philosophy Department, invites submissions by undergraduates for our eighth annual conference to be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011

A Day of Remembrance for Members of the LGBT Community

On Wednesday, October 20 (tomorrow), the Office of Community Living, the Prism club, and the Office of the Chaplain will sponsor a day of remembrance for members of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community who have recently committed suicide after being bullied.

Sad News

We are sorry to tell you that Chaplain Cynthia Terry's mother, Harriett Terry, passed away yesterday morning, after a long illness.
