International Views of the 2008 Election

A panel of journalists from prominent foreign media outlets will offer global perspectives of the 2008 U.S. presidential election on Monday, October 13, at 8 p.m. in Goucher College’s Haebler Memorial Chapel. Goucher President Sanford J. Ungar will moderate the discussion, titled “International Views of the 2008 Election.”

This event is free and open to the public, but tickets must be reserved by calling 410-337-6333 or by e-mailing boxoffice@goucher.edu.

Panelists present the perceptions other countries’ residents have of presidential nominees John McCain and Barack Obama’s platforms on the economy; the war in Iraq; health care; energy strategy; immigration; and social issues, such as abortion, stem cell research, and gay marriage. The discussion will also cover the United States’ reputation abroad and the impact both candidates might have on U.S. standing worldwide.

This event is part of a full schedule of politically themed events that Goucher College has planned to help students, faculty, staff, and the greater community get informed about political issues and vote responsibly in the upcoming presidential election.
