“The Future of Food” examines the effects of biotechnology on American small farmers and offers an in-depth investigation into the unlabeled genetically engineered foods that have been being sold in the United States for the past decade.

Shot on location in the United States, Canada, and Mexico “The Future of Food” explores the complex web of market and political forces that are changing what Americans eat, as well as the influence of multinational corporations on the world’s food system. The film also looks at alternatives to large-scale industrial agriculture, including organic and sustainable agriculture.

Garcia received her master of fine arts degree from San Francisco Art Institute. She was married to the Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia from February 1994 until his death in 1995.

This event is sponsored by Bon Appétit Management Company, Goucher’s food services provider, and the Office of the President.
