Assistant Professor of History

Goucher College’s Department of History invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Eastern European history, with a focus on the history of the Soviet Union or Russia for the 2009-2010 academic year. Preference will be given to candidates with specialization(s) in Jewish History and/or Central Asia and those who complement existing strengths in the department. Candidates should demonstrate excellence or the promise of excellence in undergraduate teaching and scholarship. A PhD or defense of the PhD by June 2009 is required. The teaching load is three courses per semester. In addition to introductory and advanced courses in Eastern European and Soviet/Russian history, the successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the College's first-year seminar Frontiers Program, interdisciplinary minors, or foreign study programs.
