The Goucher Society

At a time when society's acceptance of higher education for women was just emerging, John Franklin and Mary Fisher Goucher led the drive for the establishment of a liberal arts college for women, contributing land and money for the 1885 founding of what would become Goucher College.

The John Franklin and Mary Fisher Goucher Society was established to recognize donors whose contributions to the college honor the evolution of their dream and underwrite the spirit of excellence and innovation that are the hallmarks of a Goucher education.

Today, membership in the Goucher Society is more than 500 strong and includes alumnae/i, parents, and friends representing the college’s diverse generations and student backgrounds. The generosity of Goucher Society members accounts for more than three-fourths of unrestricted giving to the Greater Goucher Fund, a major portion of which is used to support financial aid and international travel stipends for students.

In celebration of Goucher College’s 125th birthday, Goucher Society members invite other leadership supporters to join their ranks by making a gift to the Greater Goucher Fund in any of the recognition levels detailed below.

Inaugural members of the Goucher Society receive an attractive and convenient Goucher blue leather travel portfolio to acknowledge their philanthropic support.
