The following Biology senior independent student research talks were presented on Friday, May 9, 2008.

Geoff Ecker Genetic Regulation of Arginine Biosynthesis in Arabidopsis (Faculty advisor:  Robert Slocum)
Maggie Wood tfiia-s-2 Encodes a Germline-Specific Homolog of the Small Subunit of the General Transcription Factor TFIIA (Faculty advisor:  Mark Hiller)


The student presenters are shown in the photo below. These presentations are the result of year-long, intensive student-faculty research collaborations that are intended as “capstone” experiences and are a requirement for those students who wish to be considered for honors in the Biology major. Research projects often lead to significant findings that advance knowledge in the discipline, lead to student presentations at professional meetings and, occasionally, student co-authored papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals. As always, this year’s talks were well attended and preceded the annual Bio Blast party celebrating the end of the academic year.
