Lacrosse Teams Begin Playoffs in Gopher Stadium

Release date: April 29, 2008 |

Goucher’s men’s and women’s lacrosse teams have both earned the No. 2 seed in their respective Landmark Conference tournaments and will compete in the semi-final playoffs, which the college will host.

The women will take on third-seeded Drew University in Gopher Stadium at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29; the men will play the third-seeded University of Scranton at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30.

Other women’s and men’s semifinals will also be held on April 30. Catholic University’s first-place women’s team will challenge No. 4 Susquehanna University, and Drew’s top-seed men’s team will play the fourth-place U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

The championship games for both tournaments will take place on Saturday, May 3, at the site of the highest-seeded team that is still competing.

Both Goucher teams have already defeated the opponents they will face in the semifinals. The women’s squad beat Drew 11-10 on April 5, the same day Goucher’s men outlasted Scranton, 7-6, in overtime.

In accordance with Landmark Conference policy, there will be an admission fee for the championship tournaments. The price is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and non-Landmark students. Students who attend a Landmark school and children 10 years and younger are admitted free. All students must present a current school ID card, or they will be charged as adults.
