Local elementary schoolchildren will have the chance to make and fly their own kites at the second annual "Great Kite Fly at Goucher College" on Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event is free and open, rain or shine, to all children younger than 12 and their families. Participants must be registered at www.goucher.edu/kitefly or by calling 410-337-6159. E-mail kitefly@goucher.edu with any questions.
"The Great Kite Fly" will include kite-building workshops, which will be held at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. in the Heubeck Mulitpurpose Room, and a group kite fly on Mary Fisher Lawn. For a campus map, please see http://www.goucher.edu/documents/campusmaplow.pdf.
Anyone may come and fly a kite, regardless of whether they made it or bought it. The event will also feature food vendors, music, prizes, and displays by the Maryland Kite Society.
"The Great Kite Fly" was created by Esther Slaff '47. The event is co-sponsored by Goucher College's Office of the President; the Office of Alumnae/i Affairs; Lane Northeast, a Towson real estate company; the Maryland Kite Society; Goucher Radio; and Bon Appétit Management Co., the college's food service provider.
