Sharon Hassan
Director of Financial Aid

Sharon Hassan is the Director of Financial Aid at Goucher College where she has worked since November of 1999. Prior to then she spent 14 years at the University of Maryland College Park in a number of roles. Sharon is a member of the College Board, NACAC, NASFAA, EASFAA, and DE-DC-MD ASFAA, Inc. She continues to serve the college, profession and community in a number of capacities. Her dedication, commitment, and breadth of experience in higher education makes her one of the most sought out leaders in the state.

Melva Carty
Associate Director of Financial Aid

Melva Carty is the newest member of the financial aid staff with tenure of less than 6 months.  She comes to us from Howard University where she worked for seven years.  Her primary responsibilities include administering Federal ACG and Federal Smart grants, satisfactory academic progress, Federal Work-Study and verification.

Barbara Smith
Assistant Director of Financial Aid

Barbara Smith has worked in Goucher’s financial aid office for nearly 15 years. She specializes in loan processing for all students and their families and administers the packaging and processing of financial aid for the Post-Baccalaureate and Graduate student populations.

Jennifer Ramina
Financial Aid Counselor

Jennifer Ramina, who is an alumna of Goucher, has been a crucial part of the financial aid team for over two years. She is the administrator of the I-Fund scholarship and counselor for the department. She specializes in outlining the application process for families and helping students understand their award packages.

Brandon Seidl
Financial Aid Specialist

Brandon Seidl has been a part of the financial aid team for over a year. Serving as front-line financial aid specialist, he counsels families on the financial aid application process, helps students comprehend their award packages and handles a plethora of communication processes in the department.
