Sharon Hassan
Director of Financial Aid

Sharon Hassan is the Director of Financial Aid at Goucher College where she has worked since November of 1999. Prior to then she spent 14 years at the University of Maryland College Park in a number of roles. Sharon is Chair-elect of the College Board's Middle States Regional Council, State Coordinator for National College Goal Sunday, a member of AAUW, NACAC, NASFAA, EASFAA, and DE-DC-MD ASFAA, Inc. She continues to serve the college, profession and community in a number of capacities. Her dedication, commitment, and breadth of experience in higher education makes her one of the most sought out leaders in the country.

Lawrence Lawson, Associate Director of Financial Aid

Lawrence Lawson is the Associate Director of Financial Aid at Goucher College. Though new to the campus, he is quite familiar with the intricacies of financial aid having worked at other wonderful institutions.  Originally from New York City, Lawrence obtained his education from Binghamton University.  Lawrence monitors the Federal Pell, TEACH, ACG and SMART grants, Federal Work Study as well as the verification process at Goucher.

Barbara Smith
Assistant Director of Financial Aid

Barbara Smith has been with the college for over 17 years assisting students and families with understanding their financial aid award packages and Federal loan processing.  She now serves as the technical support person for the financial aid office.

Joseph Lawson, Assistant Director of Financial Aid

Joe Lawson grew up in North Carolina, attended high school in New Jersey and earned a Bachelor's degree from Harvard University.  He worked in the banking industry first as  a commercial loan officer, then as a loan administrator. In 2000 he made a career change to financial aid and has worked at Miami Dade and St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida.  Mr. Lawson has two grown sons who reside in Florida.  His interests include current events, football, movies and collecting. Mr. Lawson's main areas of responsibility are administering state grants and student loans.

Jennifer Ramina
Financial Aid Counselor

Jennifer Ramina, who is an alumna of Goucher, is the administrator of the I-Fund scholarship and counselor for the department. She specializes in outlining the application process for families and helping students understand their award packages.
