Goucher College will host the American College Dance Festival Association’s (ACDFA) Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference, held from Wednesday, March 12, through Saturday, March 15. Conference activities will include master classes, networking opportunities for students and faculty members, performances by Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet, commercial vendor exhibits, a faculty showcase, and a gala performance. Virginia Johnson, Steve Rooks, and JoAnna Mendl Shaw — all accomplished artists — will serve as adjudicators and teach master classes.

Alonzo King, the founder and artistic director of LINES Ballet, an international touring company based in San Francisco, will present a free public lecture titled “Dance the Doorway to Freedom” at 4:30 p.m. in Merrick Hall on Tuesday, March 11. During his acclaimed career, King has explored the possibilities of movement from a global perspective and is known for creating works that draw on a diverse set of cultural traditions and for imbuing classical ballet with new forms of expression. Call 410-337-6390 for more information.

Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet will perform on Thursday, March 13, and Friday, March 14, at 8 p.m. in Kraushaar Auditorium. The performance, however, may not be suitable for young children. Tickets are $22 for general admission, $15 for students and seniors. Tickets may be reserved by calling 410-337-6333 or by e-mailing boxoffice@goucher.edu.

There will also be a gala performance on Saturday, March 15, at 7:30 p.m. in Kraushaar Auditorium, where selected adjudicated works will be performed by colleges participating in the conference. Tickets are $15 general admission, $10 students and seniors. Reservations may be made by calling 410-337-6333 or by e-mailing boxoffice@goucher.edu.

All tickets will be available for purchase on Feb. 1. For more information and a tentative schedule of the other conference events, go to www.goucher.edu/acdfa or contact Elizabeth Ahearn, conference coordinator, at acdfa@goucher.edu.
