Assistant Professor, Dance

The Department of Dance at Goucher College invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position to begin fall 2008. Applicants should have a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Dance, a commitment to undergraduate education and show evidence of scholarly agenda with the potential to involve undergraduates. Teaching (three courses per semester) includes modern dance technique at the intermediate and advanced levels; dance methodology and pedagogy for elementary and secondary teaching; dance composition and choreography; and contributions to all college programs. Additional consideration will be given to candidates who can teach dance science, research methods, applied anatomy and kinesiology, choreograph works on the student dance company, and hold a current state teaching certificate. The college’s strategic plan has placed an emphasis on international, intercultural, and environmental education for our students, and there are opportunities to develop courses and experiences in these areas.

Applications will be reviewed beginning on January 31, 2008, and will continue until the position is filled. To apply, submit curriculum vita, three or more professional references, a statement of teaching interests and philosophy, a graduate transcript, and description of research interests to: Human Resources, Goucher College, 1021 Dulaney Valley Road, Baltimore, MD 21204.
