- ED 631 Psychological and Social Characteristics of At-Risk Student,
- ED 632 Psychological and Social Characteristics of the Resilient Student,
- ED 633 Methods of Teaching the At-Risk and the Resilient Student, and
- ED 634 Special Project Seminar on the At-Risk Student.
- Nine additional credits from the core, clinical and elective courses offered in the Master of Education Program. ED 602 Social and Psychological Forces Effecting Youth, ED 603 Personality Development and Self-Esteem, ED 655 Motivating the Unresponsive Student, and ED 658 Learning Styles and Multiple Intelligence are recommended as the additional nine credits.

Required courses for the professional development certifidate include:

- ED 617 Coaching Seminar, and

Certificate in Reading Instruction
Required courses for the professional development certificate include:
- ED 626 Diagnosis of Reading Difficulties,
- ED 627 Advanced Methods and Strategies in Reading Instruction,
- ED 637 Practicum in Reading, and
- ED 638 Special Project Seminar in Reading Intervention (may be substituted with ED 647 Remedial Reading Techniques for Students with Special Educational Needs).
- Those students working to meet Maryland State Department of Education requirements for Reading Specialist must take the following courses as the six additional credits: ED 672 Assessing Needs and Evaluating Progress, ED 635 Roles of the Reading Specialist and ED 636 Overview of Reading Intervention Strategies.
- Three additional credits from the core, clinical and elective course offered in the Master of Education Program.
