I have been teaching at Goucher College in the Department of Psychology for over 40 years and retired in Spring 2006. However, I will still be teaching two courses a year and advising students in their independent work and senior theses. During the spring semester, I will teach PSY 212, Existential, Humanistic and Eastern Approaches to Psychology, and during the fall semester, I will teach PSY 215, Towards a New Psychology of Women or PSY 283, Peace Within/Peace Without: Human, Societal, and Global Possibilities.

My interests are broad and wide ranging to include existential, humanistic and transpersonal psychology as well as archetypal approaches to psychology, which includes myth, literature, philosophy and the arts. My approach is obviously very interdisciplinary and includes feminist studies, peace studies, and a radical critique of society and psychology.

My scholarship in the past 15 years has been in the interdisciplinary areas of literature, psychology and philosophy. I have given primary presentations at many international conferences for the International Lawrence Durrell Society in Greece, Egypt, Canada and the United States. My focus has been specifically on the ideas presented in Durrell’s books, as well as the novels and diaries of Anaïs Nin. I plan to continue my research in this area and to pursue other areas of interest as well.

I also enjoy reading, music, dancing (almost all kinds), friendships and social activism.
