Assistant Professor of Psychology

Goucher College invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position in Cognitive Psychology to begin Fall 2008. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology, show a commitment to undergraduate education, and show evidence of scholarship potential. Teaching includes cognitive psychology at the intermediate and advanced levels, courses in candidate’s area of interest, and contributions to all college programs. Additional consideration will be given to candidates who can teach learning, statistics, research methods, applied psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and/or history and systems of psychology. The college’s strategic plan has placed an emphasis on international, intercultural, and environmental education for our students, and there are opportunities to develop courses and experiences in these areas.

The position requirements include: teaching three courses/semester, conducting research, and providing related service (e.g., student advising, internship supervision, and committee work). The college supports faculty development through pre-tenure sabbaticals, start-up funds, and internal grants. A research program should have the potential to involve undergraduates.
