$14 million toward the Greater Goucher Fund

It may surprise some to learn that tuition, room, and board cover only about two-thirds of Goucher’s operating budget. The rest comes from endowment funds, grants, state aid, income from our graduate programs—and the Greater Goucher Fund: the unrestricted gifts that we raise through annual giving programs.

The Greater Goucher Fund is critical to Goucher’s ability to continue providing the variety of educational opportunities for which this institution is known. It supports faculty salaries and student scholarships. It funds the upkeep of our buildings and the resources within them. It enables us to offer the events and programs that enrich the life of our campus and the study-abroad and service opportunities that enrich our whole world.

Equally important, the Greater Goucher Fund contributions function as Goucher’s venture capital. They enable us to explore new programmatic offerings without putting our endowment funds at risk. They give us the flexibility we need to act quickly on opportunities that might not wait around for the next major campaign.

A gift to the Greater Goucher Fund directly affects the lives of our students, faculty, and community—and it does so immediately. We would need to raise an additional $40 million in endowment funds to gain the income that $2 million in annual giving provides.

The Greater Goucher Fund is a vital lifeline for our efforts, day in and day out, and every contribution to it represents an important statement of support for Goucher College.
