Want to stay connected to Goucher while abroad?
NEW International Section in the Q:
This is a message from Matt Cohen-Price, an ISP student with the Quindecim:
To: All Goucher students studying abroad
Re: New section in the Q dedicated to sharing your stories
The Quindecim, Goucher's newspaper, has created a new section of the
paper this year which focuses completely on life abroad. One of its
pages is devoted to news of international events that may go
unnoticed by those who don't read national papers regularly, while the
other will concentrate on the thoughts and actions of Goucher students
currently studying abroad.
I hope that these articles will range in their focus from
feelings about being away from home and cultural norms and differences
to the politics of studying abroad, your take on local news, or
descriptions of projects (service-related or otherwise) that you may
be independently taking on. Essentially, I am looking for Goucher
students currently abroad to write about any part of their
experiencethat is unique, surprising, or interesting.
The administration always talks about being a "Global Citizen,"
something that - while it can often be over-hyped - is indeed an
important part of being a Goucher student - we do all have the privilege
and the responsibility to understand where we stand and learn what
we can do about the inequity that surrounds us everywhere. We also
have a responsibility to share our discoveries with others.
If you are interested in sharing your thoughts and feelings about studying
FAR away from the Goucher bubble, let me know. Articles should be
between 600 and 1000 words and can be written in journalistic, blog, or
essay form. All articles are published alongside with full-color pictures you
have taken or have been taken of you wherever you might be. Other
submissions, such as poetry, will also be considered.
Thank you for your interest.
Please email me with any questions, and definitely contact me
if you are interested in writing!
