Download McAfee VirusScan Software for Windows

McAfee VirusScan Enterprise Edition 8.5 is provided for free to all Goucher Students, Faculty, and Staff. This software will run on Windows 2000, XP and Vista. You will need to provide your Goucher network user name and password in order to access this download. Once the file has been downloaded, go to that location and double-click the appropriate icon.

NOTE: Make sure you remove any anti-virus software before you install McAfee VirusScan. This includes any prior versions of McAfee that were downloaded from this site. This version of software can be installed on Windows 2000, XP and Vista.

Download and Installation Instructions:

• You must log into the network with the following: gcadmin\username (where username is your network/email userid).
• After you have entered your account information, you will see a File Download Dialog box asking: What would you like to do with the file.
• Click on Run. This will download and launch the installation. The installation is silent, which means it will be running in the background without any indication of the progress.
• Once it has completed, it will come up with a message stating that McAfee is installed and it will need to reboot your computer.
• Click OK to reboot your computer. The installation is now completed.

Note: This download is configured to update your virus definitions at start up. If you never shutdown your computer, you should change the configuration to download your definition files at a scheduled time. If you have any questions you can contact the Help Desk at x6322.
