LEAD (Leaders Encouraging Action and Development)

The LEAD program, first implemented in the spring semester of 2000, has been designed as a leadership development opportunity for Goucher sophomores and/or juniors who will engage with Goucher student mentors, faculty and/or staff, and one and other throughout the spring semester.

The objectives for LEAD are as follows:

  • Foster habits of intentional and holistic self-reflection and goal-setting
  • Develop a sense of confidence and belief in self and ideas.
  • Integrate lived experiences into their leadership development process.
  • Connect to different community members across campus.
  • Explore and discover personal balance and renewal.
  • Think critically about change processes and obstacles to change.

These objectives will be achieved over the course of February and March through a series of activities.  Each LEAD participant will be required to attend the first LEAD seminar held on campus on Friday, Feburary 12 from 3:30 - 5:45 p.m.  Participants will sign up for the second 90-minute seminar, held sometime during the week of February 14 and led by upperclass Goucher students.  During the week of February 21, participants will schedule a lunch, breakfast or coffee meeting with a Goucher faculty or staff member.  The LEAD series will conclude at the final required seminar, heldo n Friday, March 5 from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.  

Applications for the LEAD program must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3 to the Office of Student Engagement. Submit applications via campus mail or by email to susannah.walker@goucher.edu.
