The Crowning Jewel of Goucher College

It would be difficult to overstate the importance of the Athenaeum to our vision for Goucher College.

It will be a buzzing hive of activity, and a common point of connection among all the members of our community. It will enable us to attract more and better students, faculty, and visiting scholars. It will give us a prominent showcase for their talents. It will be a central destination for our visitors and a key conduit through which we will reach out ever further into the world around us.

It will be the college’s crowning jewel—the physical manifestation of the ideals we are working to realize and the progress we have made.

When it is complete, the Athenaeum will stand as a monument to an historic advance in the evolution of Goucher College, a giant leap forward into the future of liberal arts education. But it will stand also in honor of the many whose contributions made it possible, who shared our vision and gave generously of themselves to make it real.
