The Library and Information Commons

Information Commons (top), Library Stacks (bottom)

A college’s library is its intellectual cornerstone, and our new library is the cornerstone of the Athenaeum. It encompasses enough space to double the library’s current collection and gives students significantly improved access to information-technology resources. It is fully wired with state-of-the-art equipment, including new computer workstations in a 24-hour computer lab and digital-arts video-editing stations.

The library’s layout reflects both time-honored and tech-savvy approaches to study and research, providing ample quiet space for those who wish to browse the stacks in solitude as well as areas where students can search for information online, either alone or in clusters. The entire Athenaeum is a wireless hub, enabling students with laptops to connect to campus networks and the Internet from anywhere in the building.

The Information Commons is staffed by a team dedicated to supporting the college’s educational programs through the development and use of new technological resources.
