Prof. Williams is a native of the Akron, Ohio area. She attended John Carroll University where she earned a B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy. After graduating from John Carroll, she attended Ohio State University where she earned an M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science. GO BUCKS!

Prior to joining the faculty at Goucher she taught as an Assistant Professor at James Madison University and as a visiting instructor at Texas Tech University.

Prof. Williams teaches courses in American politics, specifically American political institutions. Other classes of interest include Research Methods, Women and the Law, Judicial Process, Civil Rights and Liberties, and Constitutional Law.

Her research interests include judicial politics, gender in American politics, and methodology. Her dissertation examines the representation of women on state appellate and general jurisdiction trial courts. Other research projects include examining the influence of campaign contributions on the behavior of state supreme court judges, and examining the questioning behavior of Senators during Supreme Court confirmation hearings. Her work is published in Judicature and she has forthcoming articles in The Justice System Journal, Social Science Quarterly, and Political Research Quarterly.
