Although you may officially complete your degree requirements in December or January, the commencement ceremony for all undergraduates is held in May. You’ll receive an updated degree audit in the middle of the semester alerting you to any requirements not completed and allow time to get in missing transfer work and AP scores, or to discuss missing requirements with your department.
The Registrar's Office will send an "in lieu of" letter acknowledging that you have fulfilled your requirements and that your diploma will be awarded the following May. Your transcript will also reflect the fact that you have completed the requirements necessary for graduation.
You must also pay your outstanding fines before graduation or you will not be able to participate in Commencement exercises, receive your diploma, or receive copies of your transcript. The Financial Aid Office will notify you approximately one month before graduation for an exit interview. The Bursar's Office will notify you one month before graduation if there are any financial holds.
