Mission Statement

The staff of the Office of Community Living strives to educate through experiential learning. We assist in the overall development of the resident, the student, and the person by providing appropriate challenges, guidance, and support in order to become productive, successful community members. We celebrate respect for difference, achieving personal balance, and personal dignity.

To accomplish this mission, the goals of the community living program will provide for:

• Support of the academic mission of the institution
• Efficient and thorough attention of student needs
• Safe, clean, and well-maintained facilities
• Increased awareness of individual rights and responsibilities to foster respect for others and oneself, and appreciation of differences
• A supportive and challenging framework of expectations for students and staff
• Educational and social opportunities in the halls through programming and shared living experiences, and the creation of living-learning communities in which students develop a sense of attachment and investment
