Goucher College seeks a part-time secretary/medical receptionist to report to the Director of Student Health and Counseling Services. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
· Maintaining a smooth operation at the front desk. Scheduling appointments, discharging patients, preparing documentation for patient visits, entering data into the Neusoft medical software regarding patient visits, making follow-up appointments, assisting with referral information including the necessary insurance forms, and answering phones.
· Managing current patient charts and ensuring the highest standards of confidentiality for all patient medical records. Maintaining current files and files for students that have withdrawn/graduated for five years after date of departure. Reviewing all new student records for complete medical history, physical, and immunization information.
· Typing and filing as necessary. Sorting daily mail, pulling charts for incoming patients and files charts of patients seen. Receiving lab results and distributing accordingly to clinicians for review. Assisting patients in self-care clinic and dispensing over-the-counter medications.
· Providing back-up for clinic coordinator when it is necessary for the clinic coordinator to be away from the front desk.
· Receiving incoming medical records and mail, and answering/returning phone calls during the summer months when the health center is closed.
The qualified applicant will have the ability to act independently and confidentially, yet function as a member of a team. High school diploma required; college education and/or established work history in a medical setting preferred. Position is 20 hours per week during the Fall and Spring (5 days per week, 29 weeks) and 8 hours per week during the Summer months (2 days per week, 15 weeks).
