The Friends of the Goucher College Library Present: Leslie Burger

Leslie Burger, president of the 64,000-member American Library Association and director of the Princeton Public Library in Princeton, N.J., will present a free public lecture at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 2 in Goucher College’s Kelley Lecture Hall. Burger’s lecture, “Libraries Transform Communities,” is presented by the Friends of the Goucher College Library. She will focus on the many ways renovated and improved libraries improve communities, offering examples from her experience planning and funding the new, 58,000-square-foot Princeton Public Library in April 2004.

Burger is recognized as an accomplished expert on staff development, planning and evaluation, organizational development, and the future of libraries and their role in revitalizing downtown areas.
 
Through her consulting firm, Library Development Solutions, Burger also provides strategic planning, space-needs assessments, and program implementation for more than 100 urban, suburban, and rural public libraries; academic and special libraries; and state libraries.

Burger attended library school at the University of Maryland, College Park and has a master’s degree in organizational behavior from the University of Hartford.
