Joanna Greenwood received a Bachelor of Music degree from Goldsmiths' College, London University and a Master of Music in Theory and Analysis from King's College, London University. In 1983 she moved to the U.S.A. to attend Cornell University, from which she obtained a Master of the Arts in Historical Musicology. She taught theory and aural training at The Baltimore School for the Arts and, for the last five years, at Towson University. She began teaching the music history courses at Goucher beginning in the Fall of 2005. She has been teaching piano for twelve years in her home in the Towson area. Since the summer of 2000 and continuing until the present, she has taught summer workshops in composition to students grades 1-12. She was President of the Greater Baltimore Music Teachers' Association for five years and continues to be an active member. She is co-chair of the Composer's Circle of the Maryland Music Teachers Association.
