President’s Forum: David Sanger of The New York Times

David E. Sanger, White House correspondent for The New York Times, comes to Goucher College on Thursday, Oct. 26, at 8 p.m. to discuss the challenges of covering the administration of George W. Bush.

Titled "Iraq, Iran, Korea: Covering the Crises of the Bush Presidency," this event will be held in Merrick Lecture Hall and is free and open to the public. Tickets are required, however. For more information or to reserve seats, please call 410-337-6333.

Sanger has been writing for The New York Times for more than 24 years, covering New York, Tokyo, and, most recently, Washington. He reported on such issues as foreign policy, globalization, and nuclear proliferation before covering the George W. Bush administration.

Sanger has received numerous journalistic awards, including being named twice among New York Times reporting teams honored with the Pulitzer Prize. In 1987, his reporting team won the Pulitzer for national reporting for its investigation of NASA following the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster. Later, he was part of another Pulitzer-winning team reporting on the Clinton administration’s struggle to control exports to China. In 2004, he and four other colleagues also shared the top award of the American Society of Newspaper Editors for deadline writing for their team coverage of the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster.

Sanger also has frequently been a guest on public television shows such as Washington Week and The Charlie Rose Show.
