Title: Classroom Technology Specialist
Vacancy: 2 positions
Hours per week: 10-15 minimum
Pay rate: $8.00 /hr

Computing Services has two evening student worker positions available. Classroom Technology Specialists (CTS) are asked to perform a variety of tasks related to classroom audio-visual equipment. Working with the supervisor, the CTS will ensure that all the classroom technology equipment that is used by faculty and staff is well maintained and ready for use. The CTS will perform routine scheduled testing, troubleshoot equipment when problems are reported, and replace faulty equipment. The CTS will also take part in project-based work such as equipment inventory, and creation of audio-visual classroom instructions. Additionally, all CTS’s will be required to provide immediate assistance to faculty and staff with any issues regarding technology use in the classroom as they arise.

Main tasks:

  • Perform nightly rounds to campus classrooms, testing the function of projectors, DVD players, VCRs, all audio visual components, as well as instructor station computers.
  • Logging tickets in HEAT for any problems encountered and keeping comprehensive records of classroom maintenance.
  • Analyze reported problems with equipment, replace and reconcile inventory.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to work evenings independent of supervision and as part of team when necessary.
  • Previous computer and A/V troubleshooting experience is NOT required but beneficial.
  • Eager to learn and able to pick up new tasks quickly.
  • Must have good communication and customer service skills.
  • Must work a minimum of 2 hour shifts.
 

Title: Computing Services Assistant
Vacancy: 1 position
Hours per week: 10-15 minimum
Pay rate: $8.00 starting/hr

Computing Services is looking for two student workers to assist staff starting in fall 2009. If you own a computer then you can work for us! Computer troubleshooting experience is not required but is helpful. Extensive training will be provided throughout the school year. A special training session will be held prior to the start of classes. You must be able to return to campus a week early to attend training. We will take care of housing and lunch will be provided for each training day.

Additionally, all CSA’s will be required to assist walk-in customers to the best of their ability during all shifts and seek the help of a Help Desk staff member if necessary.  They may also be requested to answer overflow Help Desk calls from time to time.

Requirements:  

  •  Must be able to lift and move computing equipment such as monitors, printers, etc.
  •  Previous computer troubleshooting experience is NOT required but beneficial.
  •  Eager to learn and able to pick up new tasks quickly.
  •  Must have good communication and customer service skills.
  •  Must be available to work a minimum of 10 hours a week.
