Tom Hall is one of the most highly regarded performers in choral music today. As Music Director of the Baltimore Choral Arts Society for the past 26 years, Dr. Hall has added more than 100 new works to that ensemble's repertoire, including the first Baltimore performances of major works by classical composers, plus numerous premieres of works by contemporary composers. Under his leadership, the Choral Arts Chorus and Orchestra have gained national attention for their innovative and imaginative programming, recordings and broadcasts, community outreach programs, and educational initiatives. In addition to their concerts at Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore, Dr. Hall and Choral Arts have appeared in New York, Europe, Washington, DC, and throughout the mid-Atlantic region. They have performed and recorded with artists like Dave Brubeck, the King’s Singers, Chanticleer, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Anonymous 4, and country music star Kathy Mattea. They have appeared with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony, and the Smithsonian Chamber Players, and their concerts have been broadcast on PBS, NPR, and local television. Dr. Hall is the Culture Editor on Maryland Morning,  and the host of Choral Arts Classics on WYPR Radio, and he has served on the faculty of Goucher College for 25 years. He won an Emmy Award in 2006, and in 2007, he was named Best New Broadcast Journalist by the Society of Professional Journalists.  He has appeared as a guest conductor and lecturer throughout the United States and in Europe, and he has published numerous articles and essays in newspapers and professional journals.
