Elisa Koehler is an Associate Professor of Music at Goucher College as well as the Music Director and Conductor of the Frederick Symphony Orchestra. Also active as a professional trumpeter, she performs with the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra and as the solo trumpeter for Baltimore's Bach Concert Series. Of her recent solo appearances in Germany this past January, the Lippische Landes-Zeitung reported, "the American beguiled everyone with her dreamlike trumpet playing" and the Westfälisches Volksblatt praised her "trumpet playing with the deepest sensitivity" and "tonal purity of the highest order." Elisa Koehler earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Orchestral Conducting from the Peabody Institute, a Master's degree in Trumpet Performance from the University of Tennessee (Knoxville), and Bachelor's degrees in both Music Education and Performance from Peabody. Her articles have been published in the Conductors Guild Journal, the Heritage Band Encyclopedia, the International Trumpet Guild Journal, and the New Grove Dictionary of American Music.
