Jeffrey Chappell, Director of Jazz Studies and Director of the Goucher Summer Arts Institute Jazz Camp, is also on the faculty of the Levine School of Music in Washington D.C. A classical concert pianist as well, he has performed throughout the United States in recitals and chamber music and has been a soloist with major symphony orchestras including those of Baltimore, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Houston, Indianapolis, and Key West. He has concertized in Europe, Asia, and Latin America, and has appeared at summer festivals including Marlboro and the La Gesse Festival. Mr. Chappell is also a recording artist and an award-winning composer. He was a contributing editor for Piano&Keyboard Magazine and is a member of the International Association for Jazz Education and the Music Teachers National Association. Mr. Chappell was a scholarship student of Leon Fleisher at the Peabody Conservatory and Eleanor Sokoloff at the Curtis Institute, and was the protégé of Jane Allen.
