Passover begins on Monday evening, March 29. Students, apply by March 11th for mini-grants to host your own seders! Rabbi Josh and Yona will host a festive seder with plenty of room for participation and learning on the first night of Passover. The seder will begin at 6:30 p.m., and we anticipate reaching dinner around 7:30.

If you are Jewish, 18-26 years old, and haven't visited Israel on an organized peer trip since turning 12, you are eligible for a free 10-day trip to Israel. Registration is closed for the Summer 2010 season, but contact Goucher Hillel or Amazing Israel for information about upcoming trips. This trip is a gift from Taglit-Birthright Israel.

On Sunday, February 21, join Goucher Hillel for an exclusive guided tour of the Jewish Museum of Maryland in downtown Baltimore. The tour will begin at 1:00 p.m., and Goucher Hillel is pleased to offer this experience at no cost to students. Reserve your ticket and arrange transportation here. The tour will highlight "Voices of Lombard Street: A Century of Change in East Baltimore," a new exhibit that interprets the history of the old Jewish section of East Baltimore. As it traces the neighborhood's evolution from 1900 to today, the exhibit chronicles Jewish life and shows how the experiences of Jews and other residents intersected, overlapped and diverged.

As part of Evan Siegel's Bar Mitzvah Weekend, fifteen Goucher students helped weatherize the homes of elderly Baltimore residents, insulating windows, clearing drains, and performing crucial safety inspections. Over eighty households were served in an effort coordinated by Baltimore's Comprehensive Housing Assistance, Inc., (CHAI).

Featuring hip-hop artist Y-LOVE, a DJ, and a cash bar, this citywide event is not to be missed. Purchase your $5 ticket at Hillel, Mon-Thurs, 5-7 p.m. Round-trip bus transportation is available for $3 (advance purchase only).

Eight Goucher students spent the entirety of Spring Break 2009 volunteering in Savannah, GA. In partnership with Jewish Funds for Justice, the group did some serious hands-on learning about food access, farming, nutrition and homelessness and poverty in the U.S. Read more about the experience under Jewish Journeys.
