Professor Pichler’s research in experimental atomic, molecular and optical physics focuses on studies of ultracold molecules, cold reactive collisions, photoassociation and quantum degenerate systems, and possible applications of ultracold systems in quantum information processing. He has published peer-reviewed research articles on these topics in
Physical Review Letters, Physical Review A, Journal of Chemical Physics, Journal of Physics B, Optics Letters and elsewhere. His research is funded by the grant from the Research Corporation, and involved undergraduate students working on projects during the semester and summer. Professor Pichler has presented papers at national and international conferences such as American Physical Society DAMOP meetings, and CLEO/QUELS meetings. Recently he presented an invited talk at an International Conference on Spectral Line Shapes. He is an ad-hoc reviewer for several scientific journals. He teaches General Physics, Principles of Physics, Intermediate Physics Lab, Electronics and Circuits, and Statistical Physics. Currently he works as a liaison to the Physics Club and co-organizer of the summer research for the sciences at Goucher.
