Students participate in a fun and challenging two and a half-day experience to build relationships and a foundation for academic and leadership success. Based on the belief that effective teams are built on a strong foundation of trust, a passion for the possible, and an unswerving compassion for others, LEAP will begin to explore each student's potential as a Goucher leader. Students will spend one day in a retreat and the other at a high ropes course, returning to campus in the evenings for dinner and follow-up activities. All students will be assigned to a common section of Connections (the required first-year course), enabling the group to ease into college together. Participants in LEAP will be encouraged to continue their learning through other Goucher leadership programs, which span over their four-year experience. Cost of the program is $125 per student, with openings for 15 students.
For students interested in continuing their LEAP experience, there are continuing opportunities for leadership development, including Emerging Leaders, LEAD (Leaders Encouraging Action and Development), and the Senior Capstone Leadership Experience through the Office of Student Engagement.
