Abilities Network
PEOPLE OF ALL ABILITIES LIVING FULLER LIVES We work to improve the independence, inclusion, and life skills of adults and children with disabilities by assisting individuals of all abilities and their families in achieving their personal goals and in reaching their maximum potential. Services are tailored to support each person to live, work, socialize and to encourage the highest level of participation of each person in his or her community. American Red Cross
JOIN THE LARGEST VOLUNTEER CORPS IN THE WORLD! The Red Cross has an immediate need for additional volunteers to deliver community services in the Greater Baltimore area. Free training and flexible schedules are available. If you would like to assist local families affected by disasters, teach CPR and First Aid to the community or teach babysitting skills to young teens, help at a local Blood Drive, or be a Research Assistant, Tracing Specialist or Case Analyst for the Holocaust and War Victims Tracing and Information Center, volunteer now! Brighton Gardens

Days End Farm Horse Rescue
Volunteers needed to ensure quality care and treatment of horses through rehabilitation, humane education and community outreach since 1989. For more information call 410-442-1564 or 301-854-5037.

Don Miller House
York Road and Coldspring Avenue 410-576-5070 Don Miller House, run by the AIDS Interfaith Residential Services (AIRS), is a group house for approximately five persons living with AIDS. The facility has recently been expanded to include an additional house next door with capacity for another five persons. Responsibilities might include helping out with household chores and spending time with the residents.(Former CAUSE team)

DYSLEXIA Tutoring Program (Giving People Hope...One Word at a Time)
TODAY, A READER...TOMORROW, A LEADER-HELP A CHILD LEARN TO READ. The Dyslexia Tutoring Program is looking for dedicated, patient individuals to tutor a child or adult with dyslexia. We will train you in the Orton-Gillingham Multisensory approach to teaching reading and then match you with a student on our waiting list who cannot afford private tutoring. If you have a desire to teach someone to read and can commit to 60 hours of tutoring, please call 410-889-5487.

Sandtown Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity (Sandtown)works with families to build homes in the Sandtown-Winchester neighborhood of West Baltimore with the purpose of rebuilding vacant housing, increasing homeownership and improving the health of the community. (See CAUSE link for more information.)

Hampden Family Center
The Hampden Family Center welcomes volunteers to join in our efforts to enrich the lives of our youth and adults enhancing the quality of life for all in the community of Hampden. Volunteer opportunities include: After-School Enrichment Program (ages 7-14), Computer and GED Education (for adults) and a Woodworks Program for Boys. Humane Society of Baltimore County
Assistance needed with walking dogs, grooming cats, feeding animals, cleaning animal areas, answering phones, processing adoptions, assisting customers looking for animals; writing the newsletter and layout, webpage design, typing, humane education and assisting with fund raising and other special events. International Rescue Committee
Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee is a leading, non-sectarian non-profit organization providing emergency relief, protection, rehabilitation assistance, resettlement services, and advocacy for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict. Domestically, our 23 offices across the country ensure new arrivals have food, shelter, and clothing, and work with refugees to help them gain self-sufficiency through English language classes, job training and placement services, and community participation activities. The Headquarters Resettlement Department provides guidance and oversight for the domestic offices.

The IRC Baltimore is looking for the following kinds of volunteers to support our clients in reaching their resettlement goals:

Acculturation Mentors - These volunteers spend regular time with a refugee family with the goal of helping them to acclimate to their new environment and become familiar with the local community as well as to improve their English skills.

English Second Language Tutors - These volunteers spend regular time supporting refugee clients in their pursuit of improving their English skills; either as classroom support or private tutors.

Refugee Youth Program Volunteers - These volunteers spend time with the younger refugee population in various ways, including after school programs, tutoring and mentoring.

LEVINDALE (a LifeBridge Health center)
Since 1890, Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital has been a leader in the Baltimore Jewish Community, quick to respond to the changing needs of the elderly and people with disabilities. Volunteer assignments have been developed at several levels throughout the facility and include Office/Clerical, Gift and Thrift Shop, Dining, Therapeutic Recreation, Cooking, Escorts, Spiritual Support and more. Maryland Food Bank
The Maryland Food Bank, an affiliate of America's Second Harvest America's Second Harvest and the only food bank serving the entire state needs volunteers. For more details call the volunteer coordinator at 410-947-0404.

Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland
Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland is a private, non-profit, volunteer-based agency that delivers nutritious meals to homebound clients weekdays between 11 AM and 1:30 PM. Volunteers are needed to drive pre-determined routes and deliver meals to clients in Driver/Visitor teams. Substitute and regular positions are available at 11 distribution sites throughout Baltimore City and County. MEDBANK of Maryland
MEDBANK volunteers are needed to help chronically ill patients receive free medications. The process involves telephone intervewing, preparation of paperwork, simple internet research and communicating with local health professionals. Hours are flexible. For more information call 410-821-9262.

National Student Partnerships - Baltimore
National Student Partnerships (NSP) is the nation's only year-round, student-led volunteer service organization that links people in need with the resources and opportunities necessary to become self-sufficient. NSP operates a national network of drop-in resource centers, staffed by student volunteers from area colleges and universities. Working one-on-one with low-income community members (clients), NSP volunteers provide intensive on-site and referral services, which enable clients to achieve their goals. On-site services generally include making resumes, looking for jobs or housing, making a budget, applying for public benefits, providing referrals to other service agencies, and helping solve other problems in the client's life. St. Ambrose Center
Since 1972 St. Ambrose has been a focal point of the Southern Park Heights community in Baltimore City, working with the community to improve the lives of low-income individuals, families, and children. Each year, the Center reaches more than 40,000 persons with its broad scope of services. St. Ambrose offers an extensive variety of comprehensive, community-based day and evening programs and services. While helping to meet basic human needs is a vital part of the St. Ambrose mission, its principal focus is to provide resources to help individuals become self-sufficient, realize their potential, and achieve their life goals. TREE-MENDOUS MARYLAND
Volunteer tree projects improve community forests to make our neighborhoods better places to live not only for ourselves, but for generations to come.
