In 1990, a group of students created CAUSE (Community Auxiliary for Service) to channel the campus's growing interest in community service. The CAUSE office and mailbox are located in the student club office space in Pearlstone. Open meetings are held monthly, and in September CAUSE sponsors a "mini-fair" where students can meet team leaders and representatives of the service agencies.
The Community Auxiliary Service club, better known as CAUSE, is an umbrella organization on campus for many types of community service projects. You can get involved two ways, as a CAUSE member or part of a CAUSE Team.
Current Teams
CAUSE organizes a number of "teams" that are led by one or two students and provide service weekly at several different sites. Current teams include:
Animal Activists
Big Brother Big Sister
Blood Drive
Garden Harvest
Habitat for Humanity - Sandtown
Hispanic Apostolate
Nursing Friends
Old Goucher Neighborhood Collaborative Club (OGNCC)
