When students are asked for their hometown, it usually requires a one-, maybe two-word response. For Arthur Mutijima ’18, it sparked a fascinating conversation. Arthur says, “I am a global citizen. "My education here has emphasized the broader knowledge of the wider world by allowing me to learn about different cultures. While in my senior year of high school, I was looking into colleges that would provide me with a well-rounded education. Besides that, I knew I wanted a student-focused undergraduate education where I won't be forgotten in the back of a large lecture hall. Realizing that Goucher is a small liberal arts college helped me decide to come to here and receive a great education that is preparing me for graduate school."

Sosa looked into the college and applied.

"Goucher College is a close-knit community with a huge support network that is perfect for me. I first came across Goucher College in a book called Colleges That Change Lives by Loren Pope. Then I began to look into the school more through the website and through my career guidance counselor. The college has a great study abroad program that encourages an international education, which is awesome. "

A Diverse Community

You don't always need to go to another country to experience a culture different than your own. Sometimes it's a simple as going to a club meeting or knocking on the door of the dorm room next door. Goucher strives to bring together a diverse community of students, staff, and professors because we believe it benefits everyone. To further those goals on campus, we've established the Center for Race, Equity, and Identity, and we seek out talented international students with our Ambassadors Scholars Program.
