John Franklin Goucher Collection

The John Franklin Goucher Papers (1845-1922) consist primarily of biographical material, correspondence, writings, and publications, arranged by document type and then chronologically. Highlights include a collection of writings and sermons, published work on women’s education and international missionary literature.

Records of John F. Goucher, a prominent figure in the establishment of the college and president for seventeen years (1891-1908). He also served as a pastor for the Methodist Episcopal Church and was extremely active in local and international missionary work, establishing various Christian women’s schools in India, China, and Japan.
