The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law (Section 108), libraries and archives are authorized to furnish reproductions of materials they hold. One of the specified conditions is that the reproduction is not be be used "for any other purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research."
Intent to Publish
In order to publish any materials (images or content) from the Goucher College Library including our website, please follow these guidelines:
1) Complete an "Intent to Publish Form." This form must be approved by Goucher College. Forms may be requested from the Curator of Special Collections & Archives, Tara Olivero, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
2) It is the responsibility of the requestor to obtain any required copyright permissions from the copyright holder, which is some instances may be Goucher College, but may often be a third party.
3) Goucher College may assess a fee for use of materials from its collections for publication. Fees are determined on a case-by-case basis and are intended to offset a small part of the College's costs associated with processing, preserving, and servicing its collections.
