Tuesday, October 27
4:30 pm
in the Batza Room in the Library

Goucher Professors Angelo Robinson, English department, and Nick Brown, Political Science department,  will lead a panel discussion of Song  Yet Sung, by James McBride. This book is the 2009 selection for Maryland’s statewide reading project,  One Maryland/One Book. McBride's earlier book, The Color of Water, was a Summer reading selection for first-year students several years ago.

Set on Maryland's Eastern Shore in the 1850s, Song Yet Sung  weaves an intricate and gripping tale of escaped slaves, free blacks, and slave catchers. It was selected to offer Marylanders the opportunity to discuss topics such as race, identity, the intricacy of relationships, and Maryland history.

The Friends of the Goucher College Library are sponsoring this event and have purchased a number of paperback copies of the book.  While they last, you may request a free copy at the Main Service Desk in the library. There are also 5 copies on Reserve for check out.
