Librarian Nancy Magnuson addresses Omaha Jane Austen meeting

Nancy Magnuson, Goucher College Librarian, was the guest speaker at the fifth annual Jane Austen Birthday Tea at the Omaha Public Library on December 13.  The event was sponsored by the Omaha Public Library and was one of a number of regional celebrations of the birthday of Jane Austen by members of the Jane Austen Society of North America (JASNA).

Her talk, "A Collectors' Love Story," tells of Alberta and Henry Burke and their travels to build one of the world’s finest library collections devoted to Jane Austen. The  Burke collection is housed in the Special Collections at the Goucher College Library and, in addition to being available for Goucher student and faculty research, is visited by Austen scholars from around the world,
