During this rich Interdisciplinary Intensive Course Abroad, students can complete SP130 in Cusco, Peru, the capital of the Inca Empire, in January 2016. Students will take Spanish language, conversation, and culture classes daily and will visit numerous historic sites. These excursions will bring to life many of the topics covered in Gateway to Peru, a pre-departure course for all accepted applicants during the last seven weeks of the fall semester.
As part of the total language immersion experience, students will stay with host families in Cusco.
Eligibility and Prerequisites:
Applicants wtih a 2.5 or higher GPA can apply for this program. First-year students must be in good academic standing in all courses. For Spanish, students must have completed or must be currently enrolled in SP 120. Those recommended for SP 130 via Goucher's Spanish Placement Test are also eligible.
The tentative cost of this program will $5000-$5400. This fee includes lodging, transportation within Peru, most meals, excursions, insurance, and international airfare from BWI or Dulles. Application and Study Abroad Deposit Deadlines
March 26, 2015: Application deadline with $50 application fee
May 1, 2015: $500 non-refundable deposit is due
March 4, 2015 at 6:15 p.m. in the Batza Room (The Athenaeum)
All students are eligible to apply for OIS scholarships. There is a scholarship section on the main application form in each program application packet. Loans are also available to eligible students through the Financial Aid Office in SAS. Students who qualify for the voucher are able to apply the voucher to the cost of the program. Students entering Goucher beginning in Fall 2014 may apply for a Goucher Global Grant in lieu of the study abroad voucher.
Passport and Visa Information
