Goucher Summer Arts Institute Presents the Commodores Jazz Ensemble

The Goucher Summer Arts Institute presents an evening of jazz, big-band, and original compositions by the U.S. Navy Band Commodores, the Navy's premier jazz ensemble, on Thursday, July 19, at 7:30 p.m. in Kraushaar Auditorium.

The event is free and open to the public.

Formed in 1969, the Commodores is an 18-member group that continues the jazz big-band legacy with some of the finest musicians in the world. Led by Senior Chief Musician Philip Burlin, the Commodores' mission includes public concerts, national concert tours, ceremonial support in honoring veterans, jazz education classes and clinics, and protocol performances for high-level military and civilian government officials. The Commodores are committed to preserving the great heritage of jazz while also being an innovative force for the future.
