Goucher Professor Elizabeth Spires Publishes New Poetry Collection

To be released in early February 2009, Goucher Professor of English Elizabeth Spires' “I Heard God Talking to Me: William Edmonson and His Stone Carvings” is a collection of 23 free-verse poems and photographs that paints a portrait of this “outsider” artist and his art.

Recent Goucher alumni featured in “Men Speak Out: Views on Gender, Sex and Power”

Goucher students were the initial inspiration behind “Men Speak Out: Views on Gender, Sex and Power,” a recently published collection of essays written by and about feminist men that was edited by a former professor of women’s studies at the college.

Goucher Student Appointed to Maryland Youth Advisory Council

Goucher College first-year student Dennis Teegardin will serve on the Maryland Youth Advisory Council, following an appointment by Maryland’s governor, state Senate president, the speaker of the House of Delegates, the Maryland Association of Student Councils, the  University System of Maryland Student Council, and the Maryland Higher Education Commission Student Advisory Council.

Alonzo and Virginia Decker Bequeath $3.7 Million to Goucher College
Goucher College has received a $3.7 million bequest from the estate of Virginia G. and Alonzo G. Decker, Jr., President Sanford J. Ungar announced today. The gift will be used to improve Goucher’s athletic facilities; to help complete the Athenaeum, the new centerpiece building on campus; and to fund other college priorities.

Judy Lewent '70 Gives $500,000 to Support Goucher's Summer Science Research Program

Judy Lewent, a business executive with a distinguished career in the pharmaceutical industry and a 1970 Goucher alumna, has made a gift of $500,000 to the college to establish an endowed fund that will provide financial support to Goucher’s summer research program in the sciences.
