Title IX prohibits gender discrimination in any educational program or activity that receives federal funds. This law is most often in the news in connection with equal opportunity in sports. Another important aspect of this law is the prohibition of sexual harassment contained in the law. The Title IX regulation is enforced by OCR and is found in the code of federal regulations at 34 CFR Part 106.
The college's Sexual Misconduct Policy should be read by all faculty and staff at the college. Most importantly, any Supervisor, Department Chair, Dean or Administrator who receives or becomes aware of a complaint of sexual harassment should report the complaint according to the procedures set forth in the college's Policy.
